5km Road Runners
Saturday was the 2nd of the 5km Cairns Road Runners races. I was hoping to crack 20.30 but the race was run in heat that was 3ยบ hotter then 2weeks ago and the wind was quite gusty. I ran a very different race then last time and went out a little bit slower and the middle section of the run I tried to slow down a bit as well. Come the end of the race I thought I would have a bit left in the tank but it wasn't the case - I was stuffed. The end result - 20.51 and 10seconds slower then the last 5km race. I was pretty disappointed by it but after the race most people I spoke to agreed that it was a much more difficult run - so I tried not to let it get me down. I'm just going to have to accept that every time I run I'm not going to run a PB. Having said that though there is one more 5km run and I really want to crack 20.30.
Training week has been a little slack - work is pretty hectic at the moment and the last thing I feel like doing is training.

Tuesday: 10.0kms in 47.17
Wednesday: 10.0kms in 51.27
Thursday: 11.7kms in 60mins
Saturday: 5.0kms in 20.51 Cairns Road Runners

Monday:10.0kms in 47.48

Glad to see you are still at it! That's still a great time for 5k, and oh so close to your goal. It really is true how much the heat and humidity affect you. Hopefully for the next 5k conditions will be better.
Well done on all the training too.
Doesn't look like a slack week to me! You'll get your PB so don't worry about that. As Tesso says the heat can really take it out of you.

Well done, 10 secs is nothing it is still a great time, im sure if the conditions are right next race 20.30 will be crossed off the things to do list.
