I'm Back

Well its been a while since I last updated my blog. A few things to report - I bought a house and I move in next week. A cyclone hit and I survived it and the training has been so-so.

I forgot how much it rains up here in FNQ. I swear to god since I arrived here there has maybe been one or two days when it hasn't rained. Unbelievable. The cyclone was pretty ferocious. I had been in a couple back when I grew up around here but nothing like Larry. Just around Cairns was pretty scary so I can't imagine what it was like for the people in and around Innisfail. I went for a drive to Innisfail last week and was shocked by what I saw - the town was literally in pieces. I have some photos I took of around Cairns and will load them when I am up and running in the house. I took my camera with me to Innisfail but I felt terrible taking photos - it just didn't feel right.

The training had a couple of slack weeks there - for the month of March I still managed to run 200+km's though. I did the last of the Cairns Road Runners 5km races on the 18th and managed to run 20:38 - so I finished off with a pb of 3 seconds. I also just nominated for the Sydney Half Marathon so my focus is now getting in some decent long runs before that so I can run a respectable time.

Hope everyone is well and I look forward to blogging more regularly in a week or so.

Good to have you back Enforcer! For a while there I thought you might have got blown away in the cyclone.

Good to hear you are settling in. Even better to hear you are running so well - 20:38 for 5k!!! Going by that I'm sure your half mara time will be more than respectable.

Enjoy those long runs.

Just visiting for the first time...
We seem to be at the same level so what are you aiming for in the Half?
I won't be in it this year as i am injured but really wanted to do it again.
Anyhow Cheers and congrats on the new house.

Thanks for the comment on my blog.

Hope you are well protected for the Cyclone Monica that is coming through. Should likely head over to the Top End I think.

So do you still live in Toowoomba or do you need to change your profile to Cairns now that you have a new home?

Coming from Darwin I will be interested to see what training you get up to in the humidity up there. Makes early morning runs a necessity I found but still some managed to run in the afternoons.
